6/23/21: Two More Weeks
The MTC has truly flown by and it's wild to think I'll be in the field within two weeks. I've learned so much about how to be a better missionary, how to teach someone the gospel with the Spirit, and how to think and speak in Spanish. Even with all that, I know there's so much more to learn when I enter the mission field.
This week however was relatively standard for the MTC with 8 hours of zoom every day and increasingly more Spanish. Just this Monday our teacher have switched to only teaching in Spanish and to incentivize us to do the same we play a game infamously known as "Latino." To play Latino, at the beginning of class the Elders and Hermanas pick somebody to be Latino without the teacher knowing. Whoever the Latino is cant speak English for the rest of class or else they lose, and if the teacher guesses who Latino is we also lose. So everyone in the class has to speak Spanish to help mask who the Latino is. It sounds simple but it's been fun trying to throw the teacher off the scent, we even went so far as the change all our zoom names for Hermana and Elder to Latino and Latina.
Some interesting topics have come up in a discussion between our distract. In one discussion Hermana Bastedo asked how we can answer the question of why Latter-day Saints work so hard in church and service if in the end we're all saved by the grace of Christ. Everyone brought up excellent ideas to answer this question but finally, Elder Bourgeous was the one the share a talk by Brad Wilcox, titled His Grace is Sufficient, that as I read later answered the question beautifully. I encouraged everyone to read it if they have this same question or want to share and answer to this question with others. (I'll link it below). I sent it to my parents to read and they sent back an interesting and mind-bending article about the nature of our God and our potential destiny as
His children from 50 years ago, that felt very relevant to many of today's questions. (Ill link that one too). I read it with Buddy and Grammy and we had a very in-depth conversation about the divine characteristic all people share and universal truths.
Its been a fun and extremely beneficial experience so far and Im grateful for every moment. Also grateful for everyone who supported me in this decision to serve the Lord. Praying for you all.
