8/9/21: Stop the Fires!

This week we did tons of service. We got special permission from president this week to do more than two hours of service a day which was fortunate because we had to work a lot in the resource center for evacuated peoe from the Dixie fire. The church became a county resource center and tons of members were volunteering to help out there. It was despretly needed as the fire has skyrocketed in size becoming the 2nd largest fire in California history and destroyed the town just north of us, Greenville. So many people lost everything from the fire and the downtown was absolutely leveled. It was sad to see but also inspiring to see the community come together and donate overwhelming amounts of supplies to the reasource center. Me and my companion worked sorting out the donations that came in and it was hard to keep up because people were so generous.

On a happier note, we got two more people to commit to baptism. Jack and Logan are both very interested in getting baptized and it great because the rest of their family is members but less active so their interest in the gospel is really helping their family return to the covenant path. We also found 4 new people were teaching which is big for one week our in Quincy. So even though we've been very focused on service the Lord has blessed us still with amazing teaching opportunities.

Went to my first zone conference as well over in Reno, so that was a fun trip too.

That's all for this week, pray for Greenville and I'll talk to you all later.
