It's been a while since I wrote but a whole ton has happened. First off Elder Christofferson came to visit which was a special experience. It was cool to see the entire mission get together to hear a general authorities speak. We also got to hear some amazing insights from our area President who is in charge of all of North-western South America. He spoke on how to work with ward leadership better and how to help our leaders feel excited about missionary work too. After President Christofferson spoke touching on various topics each on felt catered to our missions needs. Both him and his wife had flawless Spanish which was quite impressive and inspiring for me. There was a brief Q&A, so I asked the question " what does it mean to be a special witness of Christ". He told us that actually the calling was actually to be a special witness of the name of Christ and then bore testimony of his name. That was powerful. We brought an Elder from our ward who was set apart the day before and headed to the MTC the next day. He was absolutely thrilled to be there. Overall a great experience that I won't forget.
Also finally reached 1 year in the mission so that's a win.
We also went to the hospital 3 time in the last two weeks. Twice for an Elder we live with and once for me. The last week Elder Vawdrey got a stomach infection pretty bad so we stayed a night in the hospital. The next day we came back and then the infection came back pretty hard so another return to the hospital. Finally it seemed like we were in the clear, but exactly a week later on this last Saturday I started to feel sick. It was mid way through our "Noche Blanca" that I started to feel bad. The noche Blanca is an activity we have every transfer where as a Zone we get together to baptize all our investigators. Me and my comp were in charge of planning it and running it so I decided to push through to the end... which was a mistake. I was in and out of the bathroom for a while until it finally ended. The bus ride home only made things worse, we also had to call and announce transfers that night to the Zone. But at that point all I could do was close the door to the bathroom, while my companion did the announcements, so no one could hear me puking over the speaker phone. Later we went to the hospital mostly because I became so dehydrated I couldn't feel or move my feet or hands. Two full IVs later and I felt way better, I didn't want to stay another night in the hospital so we went home around 2:30 am. Needless to say, we missed church the next morning which was unfortunate.
It was eventful, but the good news is I'm with my companion Elder Aquize another transfer and I'm excited to continue working with him. He's taught me a lot of great missionary and leadership skills. I'm also praying and looking for miracles so I have big expectations for next transfer for our area and Zone.
Overall it's still good down here and we're greatly blessed. Praying for all of you
Elder Allen
