10/24/22: Semana de milagro

 Today I want to share some experices we had this last week that truly were miracles. They felt straight out of the scriptures or stories from pioneers. I'll share three that stood out.

The first happen with Hermana Isabel that's we've been teaching for some time. She has the purest testimony of the restauration and has a desire to be baptized. She an older woman with health problem, she in and out of the hospital so it's hard for her progress. She also been blind for years due to these health issues. After one of our teachings with her she asked for a blessing of healing. When I gave the blessing I felt a strong spiritual impression to bless her that she would recover her sight. It was a big promise but I felt confident that it came from the Lord. We explained that she would be healed according to her faith. I prayed later that night the what was promised in the blessing would come to pass. The next day we walked by her house, she called us over and said "elderes I have good news. Next week medical specilitists are coming into Guayaramerin from the UK. They'll be able operate on the cataracts and help me restorn my vision!!" It was clear that this was an answer to her prayers and faith. Pray for Hermana Isabel because tomorrow is her eye surgery.

The other miracle happen to on of our investigadores, Hermano David. He has a huge spiritual desire to serve the Lord and is searching for a church. He has lots of question about the church and has a good understanding about the church, he just hadnt recived a spiritual witness. So we invited him to read the book of mormon and pray to receive a witness. He accepted the challege with faith. A week later we came by to visit and he was super excited tobshare his expirience. He told us this last week was full of trials for him amounting for his debts and family and he felt pretty desperate, he knelt in prayer and plead with the Lord's for a sign of hope. Right as he finished his prayer he got a notification from a church messaging service the he signed up for. The title of the article was "20 scriptures that inspire hope", exactly what he need in the moment. He felt the Spirit strongly as we read Jeramiah 17: 7 and Psalms 34:4 . Then he read a scripture from the Book of mormon, Alma 32:21, and he felt the same powerful feeling of hope and inspiration. He said only the word of God can bring that comfort to the soul. Through that experice he found a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon and the restored church of Jesus Christ. It truly was a miracle as well. 

The last was a different type of miracle, a miracle of the atonement and one we all need. On Tuesday, for needless reasons, my companion and I were carried by the Spirit of contention into an argument. At one point my companion made a comment the really hurt, it attacked on all my insecurities and really affected me. Deeply upset I left the room right away and went to bed. I tossed and turn unable to sleep, with feelings of anger and sadness. I got up to get some water and found my companion in the other room, praying late into the night. The next morning I still had feeling of resentment but my companion seemed almost normal. I dragged my feet though the day still upset, but in a conversation we had with Hermano David,  I felt a prompting that I needed to forgive my companion regardless of what happened. It was hard to do but I prayed to the Lord for strength and humility. In that same moment I felt my anger wash away. Later that night when we arrived home my companion gave me a sincere apology, telling me he spent all night in repentance, but he felt forgiven from God but he said he would do what was needed to receive forgiveness from me. With an overwhelming feeling of love for my companion came over me. I told him there was no need. We both shared a tender moment as we kneeled in prayer that night and thank God for sending his Son so we can forgive and be forgiven. That truly is a miracle itself, the miracle of forgiveness.

  Had an awesome week. Me and my comp have really dialed in to the missionary work here and we got a lot of big thing coming up. The biggest is that la familia Coimbra has committed to baptism this weekend! There a big family but each and every member  has truly found a testimony of the restored gospel and a love for Jesus Christ. The older boys, Boris Jesus and Victor prayed and thought a lot about the decision. I'm actually very proud and impressed by their efforts to find an answer from God. They studied diligently in the Book of Mormon, had lots of questions for us and most importantly took their doubts and question to the Lord. Finally this last Sunday they gave a firm answer that they want to be baptized. I know their efforts will be rewarded with a firm testimony and commitment to the gospel. 6/6/22: General Authorities and Hospital visit

  It's been a while since I wrote but a whole ton has happened. First off Elder Christofferson came to visit which was a special experience. It was cool to see the entire mission get together to hear a general authorities speak. We also got to hear some amazing insights from our area President who is in charge of all of North-western South America. He spoke on how to work with ward leadership better and how to help our leaders feel excited about missionary work too. After President Christofferson spoke touching on various topics each on felt catered to our missions needs. Both him and his wife had flawless Spanish which was quite impressive and inspiring for me. There was a brief Q&A, so I asked the question " what does it mean to be a special witness of Christ". He told us that actually the calling was actually to be a special witness of the name of Christ and then bore testimony of his name. That was powerful. 12/20/21: Feliz Navidad

  This week we had our multi zone Christmas party which was an absolute blast. I got to see a lot of my friends from my last zone and as well as meet the herd of Americans that came in this transfer. I haven't seen so many white people in a while but it was good to hear a little English. We got to enjoy the talent show, each zone put together their own comedy sketch involving relatable jokes about the struggles of Bolivian Visa paperwork and getting dear John letters. As well we got to see some awesome south american music and dance as a part of the talent show. Later we had a giant white elephant gift swap, which me and my comp had been preparing for. We plan put an elaborate gift where the person unwraps sever layers of wrapping building anticipation until they reach the gift, two potatoes.
